A kaleidoscope of events from the life of the world-famous, charismatic Ukrainian artist Kazymyr Malevych, who fights alone against the Soviet authorities for the right to create “free” art. For his competitors, his works are a fraud, for the Soviet authorities - a secret code, for one woman - a declaration of love, and for the people of Ukraine - a prophecy... MALEVYCH is not a classic historical biopic, but a symbolic portrait of Ukraine through the prism of this great artist.









Director: Daria Onishenko


Was born inKyiv, Ukraine. In 2000 she began studying communication, PR and international journalism at the Taras Shevchenko University in Kyiv. Between 2003–2004 she gained her first experience as a theater director at the Karpenko Karuj Theater Institute in Kyiv. From 2006 to 2012, she has been studying feature film directing at the University of Television and Film in Munich. In 2014 she completed her studies with the feature film EASTALGIA. The film opened in the same year the 46th International Hof Film Festival, and was screened at more than 20 film festivals worldwide. Her second feature THE FORGOTTEN started its festival career with the world premiere in competition of the Warsaw International Film Festival in October 2019, where the film was awarded with a special mention. In 2022 Daria worked for German broadcaster ZDF on the successful mini-series HIMMEL UND ERDE, telling stories about Ukrainian refugees in Germany. Daria is a member of the Ukrainian Film Academy.
