In 2023, the Ukrainian Film Academy, in collaboration with Netflix, announced a Post-Production Grant Program aimed at supporting Ukrainian creators both in Ukraine and worldwide who have been affected or displaced by the war, enabling them to continue and develop their work.

The program offered:

  • $10,000 for each of the 10 projects to cover post-production services for original Ukrainian feature-length fiction and documentary films (50 minutes or longer) in production or post-production at the time of application.

The following types of projects were eligible for the program:

  • Ukrainian feature-length fiction films

  • Ukrainian feature-length documentary films

Projects were evaluated by a panel of one Ukrainian and four international industry experts, including Alik Shpilyuk, film critic and scholar; Bernd Fischer, cinematographer, and director; Emilie George, producer; Ewa Puszczyńska, producer; and Niels Beekamp, director, showrunner, and executive producer of documentary films and series.

These initiatives for the Ukrainian film and TV industry continue to be supported by Netflix through the Netflix Fund for Creative Equity. Over the last two years 200 industry professionals have received stipends for creative purposes, and education and mentoring have been offered to over 650 Ukrainian filmmakers, scriptwriters, producers and others in the creative community. With the support of Netflix, the Ukrainian Film Academy has now aided a total of 73 film projects with script development grants and a further 10 advanced film projects offering financial assistance to help with post-production.
